Massive Monster’s Cult of the Lamb has finally introduced local co-op in its newest update, Unholy Alliance. This long-awaited feature is one of many exciting new additions to the cutesy horror roguelite, which was originally released across multiple platforms in 2022. Published by Devolver Digital, Cult of the Lamb puts players in the role of a small lamb who, under the command of a powerful deity, must form and lead a cult. The game uniquely blends base building with dungeon crawling, where players indoctrinate followers, perform rituals, and maintain the cult’s basic needs. This includes building shelters, growing food, addressing followers' concerns, and ensuring hygiene to prevent illness. A standout feature in this update is the addition of local two-player co-op, allowing one player to control the Lamb and the other to play as the Goat. Together, they can explore dungeons, participate in minigames like Knucklebones, and manage their cult. The update also introduces new relics and tarot cards, some of which are specifically designed for cooperative gameplay. The Unholy Alliance update brings new follower traits, making cultists more unpredictable and challenging to manage. Followers can now be insomniacs, rescue friends from prison, become catatonic or cursed, and even snore loudly enough to disturb others. Followers sent on missions may return either inspired or traumatized, adding to the game’s complexity. Additionally, while followers previously became upset if they caught the Lamb being unfaithful, some are now polyamorous and won’t mind their leader’s wandering affections. However, others may become dangerously jealous. With these new features, Cult of the Lamb continues to offer players a fresh and engaging experience.
