Fans of Halloween and spooky season have a retro treat to look forward to when October Panic launches later this month. This pixel art 2D platformer will offer a free demo during Steam Next Fest starting on October 14, giving players a sneak peek before its full release on October 22, just in time for Halloween.

October is packed with a variety of horror-themed games, from major releases like Silent Hill 2’s remake to indie gems like October Panic. Swedish solo-developer Niklas Hallin and Burning Planet Digital are delivering a delightful Halloween-themed platforming adventure. Inspired by retro classics like Kirby’s Dream Land and Super Mario Bros. 3, October Panic follows a young trick-or-treater named October, who must battle her way through creepy levels filled with werewolves, witches, mummies, and vampires to lift an evil curse.

The gameplay trailer showcases nostalgic pixel graphics, vibrant 2D action, and a lively electro-swing soundtrack as players guide October through five spooky levels. Along the way, players can collect Halloween Monster Masks that grant special abilities, helping October overcome more than 30 enemies and references to classic horror films like Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, and Bride of Frankenstein.

While AAA horror titles dominate October releases, October Panic offers a lighthearted and nostalgic experience for fans seeking a retro-style platformer with Halloween flair. Players can try the free demo during Steam Next Fest from October 14-21 and grab the full game when it officially launches on October 22.
